Juvenile Arrested for Threatening Phone Call to E. C. Glass
LYNCHBURG, Va. – A male juvenile (14) was arrested this afternoon following the investigation of a threatening phone call to E. C. Glass High School.
This morning, January 25, 2023, at 8:03 a.m., the Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) began investigating when a staff member at E. C. Glass reported receiving a threatening phone call. The caller, who was unknown at the time, said he was armed and had intent to harm another staff member. E. C. Glass was placed on lockdown and LPD officers responded to the school to perform a search of the building.
Throughout the investigation, multiple sources of information confirmed that the call originated from a Lynchburg residence. LPD officers responded to the residence and were able to locate the juvenile suspected of placing the phone call. He was taken into custody without incident and later transported to the Lynchburg Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
The juvenile, who is not a current student at E. C. Glass, was charged with violating Virginia Code section 18.2-427. Use of profane, threatening, or indecent language over the telephone.
Once it was confirmed that there was no continued threat to students and staff members at the school, the search of the building concluded. Lynchburg City Schools personnel coordinated the release of students following the incident.
