LCS Van Crash on Route 501 South
LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) is investigating a single vehicle crash that occurred on Route 501 South early this morning.
On October 18, 2023, at 8:13 a.m., officers responded to Route 501 South between the Fort Avenue exit and the Wards Road exit for a report of a Lynchburg City School van that had struck a tree. There were also minor injuries reported. Upon arrival, LFD began stabilizing the van, as well as, began removing the occupants. It was determined that the van had ran off the road and struck a tree in the median. The driver, and both student passengers (8 and 9 years old) were transported to the Lynchburg General Hospital with minor non-life-threatening injuries. There were only two students in the van at the time of the crash.
The driver, Patricia Dudley 71-year-old female, was charged with reckless driving.
