Suspect Charged with Breaking and Entering at the Sunshine Market
LYNCHBURG Va. — A suspect is in custody after he was found breaking and entering the Sunshine Market on Campbell Avenue this morning.
On April 25, 2023, at approximately 2:07 a.m. Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) officers responded to the Sunshine Market for suspicious activity in the area. After an initial search of the area, an alarm began sounding from inside the market. An officer noticed a man wearing a ski mask moving within the business. Clear commands from officers were given to the suspect to exit the building, to which officers received no response.
An LPD K9 was then deployed into the building and alerted officers to a chest freezer where the suspect was found and taken into custody without incident.
Dwayne Jefferson (45) of Lynchburg was arrested and charged with breaking and entering.
