LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) made an arrest this morning in connection to the homicide that occurred on June 14, 2021, in the parking lot of Family Dollar on Fort Avenue.
On January 24, 2023, LPD Detectives arrested Markeem Devante Dance, 23, of Lynchburg in connection with the homicide of Erica Jade Boykin. Collaborative efforts within our Lynchburg Community, LPD’s Field Operations Bureau, Criminal Investigations Unit, Intelligence Unit, and Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney – Lynchburg, led to this arrest.
Dance has been charged with the following:
- Second Degree Murder
- Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
- Shooting within the City Limits – Causing Bodily Injury
Dance was already in custody on recent unrelated charges. Dance has been transported to Blue Ridge Regional Jail where he is being held without bond.
