Police Week 2023 Memorial Service
LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) will host the Central Virginia Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Service on May 15, 2023, as part of National Police Week.
National Police Week recognizes the service and sacrifice of law enforcement and includes specific recognition for those who have lost their lives in the line of duty. National Police Week is scheduled for May 14-20, 2023.
This regional memorial service is a collaborative effort of multiple organizations that are dedicated to honoring Virginia’s law enforcement community.
Participating law enforcement agencies include: Altavista Police Department, Amherst County Sheriff’s Office, Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office, Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, Central Virginia Community College Police Department, Liberty University Police Department, Lynchburg Sheriff’s Office, Town of Amherst Police Department, Town of Bedford Police Department, Virginia State Police, and the Lynchburg Police Department.
The service will be held at the bottom of Monument Terrace on Monday, May 15, at 6:30 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be moved to Court Street United Methodist at 621 Court Street. Virginia State Senator, Steve Newman, will be the guest speaker. This event will honor the Virginia officer who lost his life in the line of duty. The event will also recognize law enforcement’s commitment to protecting the residents and visitors of our Commonwealth.
Members of the public are encouraged to attend the event. Seating will be available on a first-come basis.
