Your School Resource Officers (SROs) serve full time at Lynchburg’s city high schools and middle schools. The high school and middle school SROs are also responsible for the LCS elementary schools and partner with LCS School Safety Officers who are assigned to the elementary schools, including Hutcherson Early Learning Center. From preparing crisis plans to safeguarding students, faculty, and staff, SROs are part of the fabric of the school communities. They support students whenever and however needed, whether cheering them on at a football game or directing them to appropriate resources when needed. The roles of SROs in LCS are defined by a Memorandum of Understanding between the school division and police department, which is updated on a biannual basis.
