Barricade Situation at the James Crossing Apartments
LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Lynchburg Police Department was called to investigate a domestic/barricade situation that occurred earlier this morning at the James Crossing Apartments.
On June 16, 2022 at approximately 2:11 am, the Lynchburg Police Department responded to 816 Greenfield Drive for a trouble unknown call for service. Dispatch advised that they could hear a female crying and screaming at someone to “get out”. Once officers arrived on scene, they could hear items being stacked up against the front door. They also made contact with a male and a female. Neither one would open the door or come outside for the officers. The male was identified as John Christopher Jones, who had an active arrest warrant out on him. The LPD Tactical Unit, Crisis Negotiations Team and the Drone Unit were contacted and responded to the scene. After more than 18 hours of negotiations, and with the assistance from the Virginia State Police Tactical Unit, Jones was taken into custody.
John Christopher Jones, 52, of Lynchburg was arrested and charged with the following:
· Domestic Assault and Battery
· Misdemeanor Capias
Jones was transported to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority in Lynchburg. The LPD would like to thank the Lynchburg Fire Department and the Virginia State Police for their valuable assistance with this incident.
