LPD Investigating Shots Fired and Vehicle Crash in the Dearington Area
LYNCHBURG, Va. — The Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) is investigating a vehicle crash and shots fired incident that took place this afternoon.
On May 9, 2023, around 11:28 a.m. several 9-1-1 callers reported hearing multiple shots fired in the area of 2nd and Chambers Streets. Callers also reported seeing two subjects fleeing through the neighborhood, who were later apprehended by LPD.
Officers responded to the scene at 2nd and Chambers Streets and found an unoccupied vehicle that struck a telephone pole and tree. Officers also located shell casings in the 00-block of Chambers Street.
Two adult male subjects were detained and interviewed by LPD’s Criminal Investigations Division.
Out of an abundance of caution, Dearington Elementary School was put on a lockout. No injuries were reported in relation to the incident.
