Lynchburg Police Department Investigates Embezzlement Case
Lynchburg, VA – On November 15, 2024, the Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) received a report regarding the possible occurrence of embezzlement involving a city employee. Following the report, LPD initiated an investigation which uncovered evidence of recurring embezzlement activities related to the Lynchburg Progressive Firefighters Association (LPFA), a local non-profit organization. No city funds are associated with LPFA.
As a result of the investigation, Shaquita Ford, a Lynchburg Fire Department employee, has been charged with embezzlement and computer fraud. The charges stem from allegations that Ford misappropriated funds and utilized computer systems in the process. She has been placed on administrative leave.
“This employee has been placed on administrative leave while the case is adjudicated in the legal system. We have no further comment at this time.” – Lynchburg Fire Chief Gregory Wormser
This is an ongoing investigation, and the LPD is continuing to gather evidence related to the case. Additional details will be released as they become available.
