Lynchburg Police Department Resolves Standoff After Suspect Surrenders

 

 

LYNCHBURG, Va.– At approximately 4:40 PM today, the Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) attempted to serve an arrest warrant on 47-year-old Brian Burnette in the 1800 block of Grace Street. Upon making contact, Burnette fled into his residence and locked himself inside.

 

In response to the situation, Officers promptly surrounded the residence and initiated multiple efforts to establish communication with Burnette. As a precautionary measure, Grace Street and several surrounding roadways were closed to ensure public safety. After several hours of negotiation, Burnette surrendered peacefully to authorities without further incident.
