Captain Tim Clements joined the Lynchburg Police Department in 1999. Before joining the LPD, Captain Clements worked for the City of Lynchburg’s Community Development department as a Code Compliance Inspector and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Radford University. When he first joined the department, Captain Clements worked as a patrol officer before his selection as a Community Policing Coordinator in the Crime Prevention Unit in 2009. In 2010, he was promoted to sergeant and supervised the Crime Prevention Unit before promotion to lieutenant in 2012. During his time as a lieutenant, Captain Clements oversaw the gang unit and managed the Field Training Officer Program and Special Events. He was promoted to Captain in 2018 and has supervised Patrol Units, the Community Action Team, Traffic Safety Unit, School Resource Officers, Records Unit, Information Desk, and Animal Control. Captain Clements is a graduate of the Administrative Officers Management Program, the Professional Executive Leadership School, and the Senior Management Institute for Police.
