Bomb Threat at Linkhorne Middle School
LYNCHBURG, Va. — The Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) is investigating a bomb threat at Linkhorne Middle School that occurred this morning.
On May 2, 2024, at 9:18 a.m., LPD officers responded to 2525 Linkhorne Drive, Linkhorne Middle, for a report of a bomb threat. Lynchburg City Schools (LCS) eventually dismissed students and staff around 9:46 a.m., out of an abundance of caution. Linkhorne Elementary School was also evacuated briefly, however, activities are now back to normal.
After the investigation was concluded a 14-year-old juvenile was taking into custody and charged with the following:
- 18.2-83 Threat to Bomb a Building
LPD requested assistance from Liberty University Police Department (LUPD) and Virginia State Police (VSP). Both agencies provided K-9 units trained in explosive detection to assist with searching the school grounds. After the search was completed, the school was determined to be safe.
