Central Virginia First Responders to Assist First Responders Affected by Hurricane Helene
On September 27th, Hurricane Helene made landfall in the United States. In the days that followed, the storm caused significant destruction and claimed many lives in Southwest Virginia, Western North Carolina, and Tennessee.
Central Virginia First Responders will be collecting goods to transport to these affected areas in order to support both first responders and the communities in need. We are asking for your support.
You can help by donating items such as:
- Hot Hands
- Flashlights
- Battery-operated lantern-style lights
- Baby medications
- Work gloves (NOT latex)
- Manual can openers
- Empty gas cans
- Blankets
- Large new tarps
- Charcoal
- Non-dairy baby formula

AA and D batteries
Items can initially be dropped off at the following first responder agencies:
- Altavista Police Department
- Amherst County Sheriff’s Office
- Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office

Bedford County Sheriff’s Office

Bedford Police Department
- Campbell County Sheriff’s Office
- Liberty University Police Department
- Lynchburg Police Department
- Lynchburg Sheriff’s Office

Any Lynchburg Fire station or their Administration Building
- Monelison Fire Department
Additional collection locations, dates, and times will be announced. Information will be published as soon as the details are finalized. Please follow the social media accounts of your local first responders for updates.
Thanks to the generosity of several businesses and individuals in the Central Virginia community, the costs of storing and transporting the goods are being covered. Several individuals and businesses have already committed to supporting this cause. First responders in these communities are in need and continue to serve daily. Please join us in supporting them and the affected communities.
