High Risk Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Suspects
Lynchburg, VA – On November 24, 2025, the LPD began investigating a shooting into an occupied dwelling incident at 520 Hillside Court involving Octavion Taylor, 19, of Lynchburg and Amare Scruggs, 18, of Lynchburg. It was also noted that Octavion Taylor had two outstanding warrants for his arrest at the time of this incident.
On November 25, 2025, Octavion Taylor was observed as a passenger in a vehicle by law enforcement. Based on his history with firearms, outstanding warrants, and the recent incident on Hillside Court a high-risk stop was conducted in the 7400 block of Timberlake Road. During the stop, Taylor and Scruggs were taken into custody and two handguns were seized from the vehicle. Both of the firearms were stolen. As a result of the investigation, both Taylor and Scruggs were charged with the following:

Both Taylor and Scruggs were taken to BRRJA and served with their warrants. Taylor and Scruggs were both held without bond.
