LPD and US Marshals Arrest Wanted Suspects
LYNCHBURG, VA — On August 1, 2024, a collaborative operation between the Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) and the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) successfully led to the arrest of two individuals with outstanding warrants related to serious criminal charges.
The operation began with LPD officers assisting the USMS in apprehending Jayquan O’Shawn Pollard (26). Pollard was wanted out of Lynchburg and South Carolina on multiple crimes, including attempted murder in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Initially, officers observed and identified Xavier Isiah Austin (31) as well, as part of the investigation. It was determined that Austin was also wanted in connection with the same case as Pollard and was apprehended. He faces the following charges:
- Attempted Murder
- Burglary
- Criminal Conspiracy
- Failure to Appear (FTA) on an underlying charge of Computer Use to Commit a Sex Offense with a Child Under 18
- Failure to Comply with a Court Order
Shortly afterward, Pollard was observed at a Lynchburg Apartment complex. After a brief standoff, Pollard surrendered to officers without incident. He has been charged with:
- Attempted Murder
- Burglary
- Criminal Conspiracy
- Failure to Appear (FTA) on an underlying charge of Burglary
Both subjects, who reside in Lynchburg, may face additional drug-related charges as the investigation continues.
This successful operation highlights the effectiveness of our ongoing partnership with the US Marshals Service and the diligent efforts of everyone involved. The LPD extends its gratitude to the USMS for their collaboration and support in this case.
