LPD Apprehends South Boston Homicide Suspect
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg Police Department (LPD), in partnership with the South Boston Police Department, safely took a homicide suspect into custody following a coordinated regional effort. The arrest took place within 24 hours of the initial incident.
The investigation began after South Boston investigators identified and obtained warrants for a homicide suspect and shared the suspect’s name, vehicle description, and license plate with surrounding law enforcement agencies. After receiving the data, LPD officers were notified the suspect’s vehicle entered the City of Lynchburg through the use of Flock technology. Following the notification, LPD officers responded to the area and began looking for the vehicle. Officers located the vehicle in the city, visually identified the suspect as the operator, and conducted a traffic stop. The suspect fled from officers on foot and was quickly taken into custody without incident.
This case serves as a reminder that crime does not stop at jurisdictional boundaries. Through the use of Flock technology, strong partnerships, information sharing, and dedicated police work, a homicide suspect was apprehended within 24 hours of the incident.
