LPD Arrests Man for Malicious Wounding
Lynchburg, VA – On September 12, 2026, at approximately 10:50 p.m., the Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) and Lynchburg Fire Department (LFD) responded to the 4600 block of Oxford Street for a report of a malicious wounding.
Upon arrival, LPD and LFD made contact with an adult female who had sustained a serious gunshot wound. The individual was transported by LFD to Lynchburg General Hospital. She is currently in stable condition.
LPD quickly located a suspect, Dashon Kelly, 31 of Lynchburg. Kelly was charged with Malicious Wounding, Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, and Domestic Violence and is being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond.
Officers determined the involved parties were known to each other, and this is an isolated incident. There is no threat to the public.
