Lynchburg, VA – The victim, a 16-year-old male juvenile involved in yesterday’s shots-fired incident, has passed away. Our condolences are with his family during this difficult time.
We want to assure the community that this was an isolated incident between specific individuals. A person connected to this incident is currently in custody on unrelated charges. This remains an ongoing investigation, and any additional information will be provided as updates to this news release.

LPD Investigates Shots Fired Reported on Hillcrest Avenue
LYNCHBURG, VA – At approximately 3:40 PM this afternoon, the Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) received a report of shots fired in the 200 block of Hillcrest Avenue. LPD officers immediately responded to the scene and are actively investigating the incident.
Around the same time, LPD was informed that a juvenile male had arrived at Lynchburg General Hospital with an injury consistent with a gunshot wound. It is currently unclear if these two incidents are connected. The victim is in critical condition.
The Lynchburg Police Department is working diligently to gather information and determine the circumstances surrounding both events.
