Lynchburg Police Department Investigating Homicide at Pierce Street and 12th Street
Lynchburg, VA – On the evening of October 8, at approximately 8:59 p.m., the Lynchburg Police Department responded to a report of shots fired at the intersection of Pierce Street and 12th Street.
Upon arrival, officers learned that two individuals had been involved in an argument in the street. During the altercation, one of the individuals produced a firearm and shot the other.
The victim, 45-year-old adult male Anthony Cupec, was transported by the Lynchburg Fire Department to Lynchburg General Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The suspect, 43-year-old adult male Larry Kersey, fled the scene in what is believed to be a dark colored sedan with black wheels, last seen traveling toward 13th Street on Pierce Street.
Early this morning, LPD located and apprehended Kersey in the 5000 block of White Oak Drive. He surrendered without incident. He faces the following charges:

Use or Display of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony (Va. Code § 18.2-53.1)

Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (Va. Code § 18.2-308.2)
The vehicle, used by the suspect to flee the scene, is in the custody of LPD.
