Lynchburg, VA – Last night’s train incident resulted in one male being struck by a train, one female sustaining a leg injury while attempting to avoid the train, and a third individual who had no injuries. The condition of the individual struck by the train is unknown at this time. We remind our community that all forms of trespassing on train tracks, such as playing, walking, hiking, running, etc., are dangerous and illegal.

Lynchburg Police and Fire Departments Respond to Train Accident Involving Pedestrians
Lynchburg, VA – At approximately 7:30 PM today, the Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) and Lynchburg Fire Department (LFD) responded to a report of a train accident involving pedestrians in the area of US-501 and Graves Mill Road.
Upon arrival, personnel from the Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) and Lynchburg Fire Department (LFD) conducted a search of the area, locating three individuals with injuries. Immediate medical assistance was provided, and the injured were transported to Lynchburg General Hospital for further treatment. The current condition of the individuals remains unknown. It has been confirmed that one person was struck by the train; however, it is unclear whether the other two were also struck or injured while attempting to evade the train. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
