Lynchburg Police Arrest Robbery Suspect Following Assistance from Citizens
On May 24, 2026, at 11:23 a.m., officers with the Lynchburg Police Department responded to the Walmart parking lot located at 3227 Old Forest Road for a reported robbery.
Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect approached an adult female, grabbed her by her arms, stole her purse, and fled the area on foot toward Forest Brook Road.
Citizens who witnessed the incident quickly intervened, subdued the suspect, and detained him until officers arrived on scene. All stolen property was recovered and returned to the victim.
Anthony Alexander Heath Hamilton, 21, of Forest, was arrested and charged with Robbery By Force, 2 counts of Grand Larceny, and 2 counts of Credit Card theft. He is currently being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority without bond.
The adult female victim sustained minor injuries during the incident.
