Lynchburg Police Department Responds to Firearm Incident at Sandusky Middle School
Lynchburg, VA – At approximately 9:57 AM today, the Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) received a report of a student in possession of a firearm at Sandusky Middle School. Officers responded swiftly and detained three students for questioning.
A handgun was recovered at the school by LPD. Following a preliminary investigation, it is LPD’s understanding that the firearm was brought to the school with the intent to be sold. All parties involved have been cooperative. LPD is actively investigating the incident to determine the full circumstances and ensure the safety of all students and staff. There is no ongoing threat to the school community at this time.
LPD is grateful for its partnership with school administration, Lynchburg City Schools, and School Safety Officers. Additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
