Lynchburg, Va. – Over the past three days, the Lynchburg Police Department has been investigating the incident reported at the University of Lynchburg. Based on interviews, a review of video, and other investigative information, it has been determined that there was no assault.
LPD is not seeking any suspects, and the assault investigation case is closed. The LPD wishes to thank the University of Lynchburg for their cooperation in the investigation.
The investigation showed that no lapse in security on campus occurred. It should be noted that the person who reported this incident is not a student at the college.

Lynchburg Police Department Responds to Incident at University of Lynchburg
Lynchburg, VA – At approximately 8:20 PM this evening, the Lynchburg Police Department responded to a report of a possible malicious wounding at the University of Lynchburg. Initial reports indicated that a knife may have been involved in the incident.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who had a small scratch on her forehead. The victim stated that while she did not see a knife, she believed one may have been used after feeling blood from the scratch. Surveillance footage from a stairwell area showed the victim exiting while holding her forehead, but she also reported that the suspect had punched her in the head several times.
The suspect is described as a male wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, and red shoes. A canvass of the area, as well as a review of nearby security camera footage, did not reveal any further details or help locate the suspect at this time.
The victim was conscious and alert at the scene and declined transport to the hospital for further medical treatment.
Based on the information gathered, the Lynchburg Police Department has determined that this incident does not meet the criteria for malicious wounding. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are continuing to explore leads related to the incident.
