Lynchburg Police Department Responds to Threatening Writings at Heritage High School
Lynchburg, VA – On September 5, at approximately 10:30AM, the Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) was alerted to suspicious and threatening writings discovered on a bathroom wall at Heritage High School. In response to the concerning nature of these writings, Lynchburg City Schools placed the school on a Hold status while LPD conducted a thorough investigation. The LPD School Resource Officer on site was quick to respond and assist administration in the operation.
This precautionary measure, which temporarily restricts movement within the school, aims to ensure the safety and security of all students and staff. LPD continues to investigate the source and intent of the threatening messages and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
Students were released early upon completion of the initial investigation, but LPD will continue to investigate the matter. LPD received assistance from members of the Liberty University Police Department K-9 Unit, who conducted a thorough search of the building.
