Lynchburg Police Investigate Accidental Shooting on Mayflower Drive
LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) is investigating an accidental shooting that occurred earlier today.
At approximately 3:00 p.m., LPD officers and Lynchburg Fire Department (LFD) responded to a call at Lynchburg Arms, located at 2309 Mayflower Drive. When they arrived, they found a woman with a single, non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her leg. Medics transported her to Lynchburg General Hospital for treatment.
Officers have determined that the shooting was accidental. Following the investigation, LPD officers arrested Sean Godfrey, 33, of Lynchburg, and charged him with reckless handling of a firearm.
There is no ongoing threat to the community.
