Man Arrested following Vehicle Crash on Link Road
LYNCHBURG, Va. — On March 15, 2026, at approximately 8:45 p.m., the Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) responded to the area of Norwood Street and Cabell Street for a welfare check. A caller reported that an individual was operating a motor vehicle under the influence and had made threats to damage property.
LPD officers and the Lynchburg Fire Department (LFD) responded to the area and located the vehicle, described as a gray Mazda, occupied only by the subject near the dead end of Cabell Street. When officers arrived, the subject drove away from the scene.
Officers initiated a traffic stop, but the vehicle failed to stop. Officers began pursuing the vehicle; however, due to weather conditions coupled with the drivers speed, the pursuit was terminated on Rivermont Avenue.
Approximately two minutes after officers terminated the pursuit, LPD’s Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a vehicle crash in the 2800 block of Link Road. The vehicle left the roadway, overturned, struck a tree, and caught on fire.
LPD and LFD responded to the scene and the driver was extricated from the vehicle. He was later transported by LFD to Lynchburg General Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers confirmed the vehicle involved in the crash was the same vehicle LPD officers previously stopped pursuing on Rivermont Ave. prior to the crash on Link Rd. The driver was identified as Tremeq Moore, 27, of Lynchburg. Moore was charged with Driving Under the Influence, Failure to Stop for Police, and Driving on a Suspended License. Moore remains hospitalized in stable condition.
This remains an active investigation and any additional information will be released as an update to this news release.
