Missing and Endangered Person
LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) is investigating a case involving a missing and endangered person.
On December 5, 2022, at 6:00 p.m., officers responded to the 2300-block of Marsh Street for a report of missing person.
Daniel Lewis Witt (75) left his home on Marsh Street around 11:30 a.m., this morning. Witt was expected back at his home around 2:00 p.m. Walking is a normal behavior for Witt. He regularly walks from Marsh Street to the Wards Road area of Lynchburg. Witt is known to frequent the areas around Walmart on Wards Road and River Ridge Mall. After Witt did not return, and friends and family could not locate him, police were called to report him as missing.
Witt is considered endangered due to possibly experiencing a medical condition that affects his behavior. Witt is a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, 185 pounds and has thinning brown hair. He was last seen wearing a light gray jacket over a red flannel shirt and black pants. It was reported that Witt does not have a cell phone.
LPD Officers are actively searching for Witt at this time.
