Multiple Arrests Made in Childcare Facility Assault Incidents
Lynchburg, VA – The Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) has made multiple arrests following an investigation into allegations of child assault at Elizabeth’s Early Learning Center.
On November 13, 2024, Child Protective Services (CPS) alerted LPD of an assault complaint involving an employee at the facility. CPS launched an investigation, reviewing several videos. Following a thorough examination of the evidence, CPS presented additional findings to LPD on December 13, 2024. That same day, LPD issued an arrest warrant for Georgia Brown, 24, a resident of Lynchburg.
Miss Brown was charged with the following offenses:
Three counts of Simple Assault, Assault and Battery COV 18.2-57
Two counts of Child Endangerment: Cruelty or Injuries to Children COV 40.1-103
As of today, February 25, Georgia Brown has 3 additional Assault & Battery charges COV 18.2-57
At the time of the warrant’s issuance, Miss Brown was out of state visiting family. Upon returning to the Lynchburg area, she was arrested on January 9, 2025.
As the investigation progressed, LPD uncovered evidence that revealed members of the staff and board of Elizabeth’s Early Learning Center were aware of the alleged assaults yet failed to report them to the proper authorities.

Catherine Brown – Board Member
Failing to notify as a mandated reporter COV 63.2-1509
Jane Gerdy – Board Member
Failing to notify as a mandated reporter COV 63.2-1509
Kimberly Gregory – Board Member
Failing to notify as a mandated reporter COV 63.2-1509
