UPDATE: Shooting at the Waffle House
LYNCHBURG, Va. – At approximately 5:00 pm, LPD officers observed the suspect, involved in the Waffle House shooting, getting into a vehicle. The officers then attempted to stop the vehicle, which led to a pursuit through several city streets. Eventually, the vehicle crashed at the intersection of Old Mill Road and McConville Road. After the crash, the suspect fled the scene on foot but was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit.
Omarian Daquon Fitch, of Lynchburg, was charged with the following:
- Aggravated Malicious Wounding
- Malicious Wounding
- Reckless Handling of a Firearm
- Shooting into an Occupied Building
- Property Damage
- Use of Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
- Discharge a Firearm within the City Limit
