Vehicle Tampering Report Leads to Stolen Vehicle Pursuit

 

 

Lynchburg, VA – At approximately 4:05 a.m., officers with the Lynchburg Police Department responded to the 800 block of Weeping Willow Drive for a report of vehicle tampering. Upon arrival, officers observed a male suspect wearing a face mask start a pickup truck and drive recklessly out of the residential complex.

 

Officers were quickly able to determine that the vehicle was stolen. A traffic stop was attempted, but the suspect failed to yield, resulting in a vehicle pursuit.

 

The pursuit ended when the suspect crashed the stolen vehicle at the intersection of Old Forest Road and Range Street. He then fled the scene on foot into a nearby wooded area.

 

Officers immediately established a perimeter and called for additional support. Despite extensive efforts and resources deployed, the suspect was not located.
