Ken Edwards joined the Lynchburg Police Department on February 8, 1996. He has been promoted through the ranks within the department to his current position where he serves as Deputy Chief of Investigations and Administration Bureau. During his career, Deputy Chief Edwards has served in Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Professional Standards, and has been a Tactical Unit Team Leader as well as Crisis Negotiations Team Commander.
Deputy Chief Edwards is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and is a member of the FBI National Academy Associates (FBINAA) Virginia Chapter. He served as an executive board member of the FBINAA Virginia Chapter (2008-2015) and is a past president of the FBINAA Virginia Chapter (2014/2015). Deputy Chief Edwards is a graduate of the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police, Professional Executive Leadership School, the Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for Police, and the Force Science Institute. He is a certified member of the International Association of Hostage Negotiators.
Deputy Chief Edwards is a graduate of Leadership Lynchburg’s Executive Forum. He is a member of the Exchange Club of Lynchburg and served as an executive board member from July 2015 until June 2017.
